South Korea to Host World’s First Real Estate Blockchain Conference

The Korea Economic Daily, South Korea’s leading economics periodical, has announced that it plans to hold what is believed to be the world’s first blockchain exhibition dedicated to real estate.

The event, going under the name Real Estate Blockchain Expo 2018 (RBE 2018), will be held in Seoul this coming September 19 to 21 at the COEX A Hall venue.

According to the event’s hosts, delegations from over twenty countries representing over 50 companies and government organisations will be in attendance to discuss the longer term impact of blockchain technology on the industry.

Anticipating Major Changes

The conference is the latest in a series of similar events that have taken place across a number of industries in recent times in which business leaders have gathered to determine – and prepare for – the potential longer term impact of DLT as well as the opportunities and challenges it presents.

The tokenisation of real estate as an investment instrument is considered by many analysts to be on the verge of bringing significant, disruptive changes to property investment, with the RBE 2018 conference itself set to “showcase a number large-scale investments into global real estate development projects.”
