Travala Announces Integration of EOS as Payment Method

Travala (AVA), the holiday company operating on the NEO blockchain, has announced that it will now accept EOS tokens as payment for accommodation bookings.

The news comes on the back of a string of recent announcements regarding the inclusion of Binance Coin (BNB), DASH and Ripple (XRP) as cryptocurrency payment options on its platform.

With over half a million properties spread over 210 countries, Travala now offers 82,311 individual destinations and is often referred to as the AirBnB of the blockchain.

The latest announcement will surprise some, however, after a spate of criticisms aimed at the EOS project. In November, a report commissioned by ConsenSys had suggested that “EOS is not a blockchain…[as] their transactions are not cryptographically validated,” that “Block producers are a single point of failure for the entire system” and that, as a result, the technology was more like a traditional “cloud service for computation.”

Further concerns over centralised governance of the EOS token, technical capability, security issues and even moral standards had also been expressed by Charles Hoskinson, the CEO of Cardano, at the BeyondBlocks Summit in Bangkok last week.

According to Hoskinson, EOS’ claims of performance are “wildly dishonest”, adding“You [EOS] raise $4 billion dollars and claim you have no moral or fiduciary responsibility or obligation to the people you take the money from?”

Hoskinson added that “…it disgusts me at a deep, deep level, the arrogance, the entitlement, the attitude…” before concluding that “…there are bad actors in the space and I view them as one.”

Hoskinson did point out that he has something of a gripe with the EOS project team, claiming that  Dan Larimer had accused the Cardano project of plagiarising some aspects of the EOS technology
